Selected Good Causes, & Yours

There are so many good causes in the world today, and the latest recession is making the financial situation worse for so many people in the world.  When you make your purchase to donate today you'll find a list of selected good causes to contribute to.

Alternatively you can submit a good cause for selection.  This doesn't guarantee any money will be raised, so you are encouraged to promote it to all your contacts and spread the word throughout the country.  All good causes must be registered charities and have no political or religious affiliation (see the Rules at the bottom for fund-raising).

The selected good causes you can support today include:-

Help For Heroes
Support for men & women of the armed forces injured in service to the country.
Royal British Legion
Home of the Poppy Appeal.
Support for former servicemen & women and their families throughout their lives.
Christie's Hospital
Undertaking research into cancer care and treatment.
St- Anne's Hospice
Helping ease the lives of those with terminal illness.
Action on Pre-Eclampsia
Support for pregnant women.
Royal National Lifeboat Institution
Volunteers saving lives around the coast of Britain.
British Interplanetary Society
Looking to a better future for mankind.

These are leading causes close to the author's heart.  If your own good cause needs support then write in to have your cause included in the selected list and see that funds are channelled to them from every sale.

NOTE:  If you choose to submit a good cause for addition to the selected list, try not to duplicate the good work of the current selected causes, it's a waste of time and resources, for example, to have two, three or more cancer research groups splitting this money.  Let's put it to best use in one place.

The Rules

This opportunity is intended for the best benefit of the UK community. For this reason strict rules will be enforced regarding who is allowed to represent it, how, when and where.  The rules were drawn up in anticipation of individuals reselling the Book of Happiness to raise funds for local groups and activities.  This offer may be withdrawn at any time without notice.

If you have a major good cause deserving support, such as those listed above, it is better that you write in to submit your suggestion to be added to that list and spread the word to all your friends to go direct to the shopping cart for their copy of the Book of Happiness and make a donation.  In that case you can ignore everything below.

Here are the basic rules for reselling the Book of Happiness:-

  1. You MUST BE OVER the age of 18 and not subject to any care order, restraint, mental disability, etc., likely to have an effect on your ability to undertake the task or impair your judgement.
  2. You are either: (a) a free agent, or (b) acting on behalf of a good cause or special interest, or (c) both.
  3. You must have a verifiable clean record, no past history of bankruptcy, violence, crime, fraud, or other unscrupulous dealings - your ID and criminal records checks will be verified.
  4. If you are acting on behalf of a good cause, the payments will be made directly to them, not into your hands to pass on; or,
  5. if you are working closely with a charity or other group then they will have to verify, in writing, your right to act on their behalf - no tricksters allowed; or,
  6. if you are working for yourself and for a good cause, splitting the income, then arrangements will be made to verify this and split the rewards to both of you.
  7. British Jobs for British people.  Remember that one?  Well, this offer is for local British causes and people, subject to any local regulation.
  8. If you are taking stock for resale then you are solely responsible for its care and good condition once it is in your hands (don't leave them lying around the house for the dog to chew them or any other circumstances); and,
  9. replacement stock cannot be supplied without payment.
  10. You will have the opportunity to inspect stock before accepting it for resale.
  11. Once you take stock then it is entirely your own financial risk and responsibility to resell it.
  12. Payments are normally accepted cash-in-hand, where safe and appropriate, or bank transfer into a secure bank account.  To avoid the hazards of card and cheque fraud these are unlikely to be acceptable forms of payment, especially for bulk purchase.
  13. Card payments may be accepted in-person, at presentations or special events, if accompanied by suitable photo ID, and only where facilities for card transactions are available.
  14. No credit is offered to anyone at any time.
  15. Anyone, individual, or group, who misrepresents this opportunity and this or any related products or services; or anyone who brings this into disrepute, shall: be immediately disqualified from further receipt of stock, benefits or more, or be penalised by freezing of any payments liable to them.
  16. If you have found to have acted in a criminal manner then any money due to you from sales will be seized as penalty for your actions - you will not receive any payment if you damage the good work intended in the sale of this Book or any related merchandise.
  17. If you act in a manner that causes damage to the Book or publisher, then you may be liable for any damages sought against you for your actions.
  18. Most projects, activities and good causes will qualify; but, subject to interpretations of local law, it is unlikely that the following will qualify for direct support and acknowledgement: (a) political organisations who led the UK into the dire mess we've been in for the last century; (b) religious, especially fundamentalist, organisations, cults, agencies; (c) any organisation who condone criminal behaviour, including activist and anarchist organisations; (d) anyone engaged in any criminal activity; (e) sectarian/nationalist organisations who advocate disunity, disruption, devolution; (f) funds to be used for protests, politics, priests, campaigns of agitation, disruption, etc., with no tangible, positive benefit to society or the world.
  19. Especially favoured good causes include: (a) advancement of science and nonreligious education; (b) better treatment for the young, elderly and infirm; (c) support and care for war widows, their families and injured members of the British armed forces; (d) improvements in local environments.
  20. MORE RULES to come in light of advice or experience.

 Share HERE............................................................

If you want to act as reseller for yourself or a good cause there are several ways to help you promote the Book of Happiness and spread the word.

To begin with take a sample to learn if it will work for you.  Test it out with your community and contacts.

Once you've begun successfully spreading the word you can take it on for yourself.  You can take a small consignment of the books (the minimum consignment pack is 20 copies) or even be daring enough for a larger one to spread the word around your community.

If you are a larger group or you have a substantial network of members around the country who are likely to share the humour of the Book they can be encouraged to participate, either buying copies for themselves or promoting it locally.

You can promote the Book of Happiness through your mailing lists, to be bought directly from you, or through your social network profiles.
